Ms Anderson has spent her ife among the cotton fields of Texas in the typical roles of a rural woman. She sought to stretch herself beyond the boundaries of reality and opened a world of images both spontanious and direct. Working with oils, clay and paper, Leola strives more for an intuitive expression than pictorial illusion.

"I like to say I paint what I see, but that is not entirely true. I like to think that I paint the essence of people's personalities and perhaps abstract a hidden bit of poetry from them - not only from what I see and what I know, but what I feel."
