Collecting her share of awards, artist Earline Barnes is currently conducting workshops, giving demonstrations, teaching painting classes, working on a book and creating her own paintings. Outdoor light fascinates her. "You have to see the light and then paint it. Paint what's in your mind," says the artist. Her book, for F&W Publishers, Inc. of Cincinnati, will be titled, "How to See Light and Paint It".

Barnes' long list of awards encompass the 13th Annual Museum Show, Best in Oil, 1980, 15th Annual Museum Show,
El Paso Museum of Art Purchase Award, 1982 and 1985, Best in Mixed Media, 17th Annual Museum Show and 18th Annual Museum Show.

A Member of El Paso Art Association and National Society of Arts and Letters, Barnes has conducted workshops and demonstrations at Carrizo Lodge Art School, Ruidoso, New Mexico; Mesilla Valley Art Guild, Las Cruces, New Mexico;
El Paso Art Association, El Paso, Texas; Kingdom of the Sun Art Association, Deming, New Mexico; Community Artist and Students, Waco, Texas and Museum of Art, El Paso, Texas.

The emphasis in her teaching is solidly based upon the techniques involved, as well as some philosophy of painting. She firmly believes a student should understand the reason for a technical procedure, not just blindly follow instructions. She demonstrates a variety of oil and mixed media painting methods.
