| Roberta Clair | ||||||
|
Roberta H. Clair, born January 21, 1931, has lived most of her life by the ocean from the west coast of Canada to Southern California. While an executive secretary in California, Miss Clair began painting as a hobby, studying for three years and practicing every free moment. Fortune opened the golden door to opportunity when she was able to study with world-renowned Earl Daniels of Laguna Beach, marine specialist. For the next ten years, the artist's career began to shape itself, reflecting an intimate love of and respect for nature, particularly the sea. Total involvement began when an artists' agent sold her works all over the U.S., including Hawaii. Many well known personalities, decorators and famous artists have purchased Miss Clair's paintings for their own homes. Miss Clair has won numerous first prize ribbons for her marines. Although the sea is her first love, she is able to render portraits, still life's and landscapes with equal finesse. Recently she started experimenting with acrylics, which now have a permanent place in her diverse activities. Except for actual objects like ships or people, all of Miss Clair's paintings are done from memory and imagination. |

| Penni Anne Cross | ||||||
|
Penni Anne Cross began developing her artistic talents in 1968 when she began actively pursuing art as a career and not just a hobby. She had been living among the Crow Indian Tribe and spent a great deal of time painting this proud people. In 1978 she was adopted into the Crow tribe as a member of the Whistling Water Clan. At this time she was given her Crow name "Alawa-Stawe-Ches" which interpreted means "Travels the Good Road". Today her desire is to document a significant chapter in the proud history of her people; to capture the Crow culture as the old traditional ways blend with the new influences from a younger generation that has renewed pride in their tribal identity. She achieves this desire in her pastel and oil portraits of Crow men, women and children. |

| Peter Parnall | ||||||
|
Peter Parnall is as versatile as the natural world he paints. He can fill his work
with bright, bold colors, or sparingly employ a mere tint to highlight a particular
feature. He can be modern and impressionistic one minute, and then turn to pen and
ink for painfully fine detailing the next. He is the consummate illustrator, as
his track record of more than 50 books and numerous awards will attest. He has
lived with animals all his life and understands them. "I try," he says, "to get
the essence of the animal." |
